Certificate format

A certificate is a small JSON file holding everything needed to verify a document later, without cronStamp. Keep it next to the document.

Fields

meta Version, salt and the requested blockchains. Part of the salted hash.

document_hash Base64 SHA-256 of your document

blockchains Per blockchain: transaction, block time and the Merkle tree splice

info Informational only: hash algorithm and the salted hash

Precert and certificate

The server only issues a preliminary certificate (precert): per blockchain the transaction, the block time and the Merkle tree splice, plus the salted hash. The client library completes it with the salt, the original document hash and meta information. See how cronStamp works for the full process.
